Starting today, I’ll write about my country, Spain, so people can learn about our culture, nutritious food, varied music, peculiar art, unique traditions, a happy dance and elegant fashion among other things. First, and a crucial point, which is Spain and the language spoken there. Spain is located in Southern Europe, on the border with Portugal and France, there are four official languages: Basque, Catalan, Galician and Spanish, though predominantly Spanish (castilian).  Food, dance, fashion, music, language, change depending on the state. in southern Spain, Andalusia, we have the charm of flamenco music and dance where the women move to the rhythm of their voices, clapping and guitars, which can be admired in the taverns of the old streets of their cities. Malagueñas (traditional music of southern Spain) is played on guitars in the light of the moon in the famous Andalusian terraces or in any of its steep streets adorned with flowers.  Ham, wine, cheese, oil, bread, olives, are a set or add to the varied, healthy and tasty Andalusian food. The Arab influence is visible in Spain, and is much more abundant farther south, especially highlighting the famous mosque of Cordoba and the Alhambra Palace in Granada is unparalleled in the world.  These are just some examples of this country it offers visitors. Later, I will delve into different topics such as fashion, architecture, art, as mentioned earlier.  Northwest Galicia is green with lots of beaches and mountains, a Spanish European style with food rich in shellfish, octopus and crayfish, accompanied with their typical Ribeiro wine. Famous throughout the world are their wanderings along the path of Santiago.  Northeast is the region of Catalonia, with its capital Barcelona, famous worldwide for its architecture, artists, cathedral, various churches, and unique style. Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia, in modernist style, is one of the most visited monuments in Spain, the city itself, has its own characteristics that differentiate it from the rest of the country, for example an entirely Gothic Quarter. It can be considered as one of the engines of the country, for its industry and strong economy. Besides the Spanish, a proprietary language called Catalan is spoken.  To the north, between the mountains of the country, it is one the oldest living legend, the Basque people, the Basque language, which is one of the oldest languages in the world and Europe, with no relationship to Indo-European. A curiosity is the practice of a very old sport, harrijasotzaile or lifting heavy stones.  Going east we find the Valencian region, whose capital is Valencia. If you never have a Valencia orange juice fresh and natural, you are missing something.   This region is famous for its wonderful and succulent oranges, which are exported to Europe, and groundnuts that make a drink called horchata.    Valencia people celebrate elaborate festivals, for example creating large wax dolls that burn in the festival of San José.       These are just some examples of this country it offers visitors. Later, I will delve into different topics such as fashion, architecture, art, as mentioned earlier.

Finally, let’s talk a little about Madrid, the capitol, comparable to Paris or New York City, with a typical architectural style of the Renaissance Europe.    Madrid is a beautiful example of European charm with its many museums, the Prado art gallery being one of the more important in the world.    Madrid is a lively and cosmopolitan city, the seat of government and the royal family – a city that never sleeps, with its theaters, culture, and entertainment.    You can find very old traditional Spanish restaurants and cuisine from all over the world.

Madrid is one of the largest and most interesting cities in the world to live, if you come to visit Spain do not forget to say….

“I’ll be back.”
